The Promise

You know, far too often we become our worse enemy. There are times when we have our eyes wide open seeking the opportunity to make our dreams come true. We even find the energy to start chasing them down in hopes that we never let them go. But unfortunately, far too often we get distracted by doubt or insecurities.

We say to ourselves, “I haven’t accomplished anything near what I hoped I would by this point.”

And right on queue, Envy creeps around the corner to strike while we’re distracted.

en·vy

noun

  1. a feeling of discontented or resentful longing aroused by someone else's possessions, qualities, or luck.

Envy distracts you by highlighting in others what you desire for yourself. Envy lies to you.

“Look at where they’re at!”
“You’re nowhere close to that!”
“Look at what they have!”
“Oh, don’t you wish you had that?”
That should be yours!

kind·ness

noun

  1. the quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate.

"he thanked them for their kindness and support"

You know what keeps you focused on moving forward? Kindness. Kindness cures you and others.

“Look at where they’re at!”
“I mean, just look at where you’ve come from. Don’t you see where you’re going?”
“Look at what they have!”
“You have something better than that. You have what’s meant for you.”
There’s no such thing as a life that’s better than yours!

The beauty of life is that we have the same power—the power to heal with our words or kill with our words. Kindness gives you the ability to do both. Kindness heals others while killing envy.

Always choose kindness.

Promise me.
